I have the 37" in my bedroom and it rocks as a bedroom TV.

      1,000:1 Contrast Ratio - that's horrible.

Walmart has a Samsung with 8000:1 for $549.

It blows all the others away plain as day. They had a Polaroid right next to it; that Polaroid looked like crap.

You want the Vizio 32" that does 1080P. That model is very highly rated in Consumer Reports and not much more. I believe Sam's Club has it for just over $500.

Can you tell the difference between 720p and 1080p on a 32" set? Or are you talking about Contrast ratio?

on a 32" 1080p vs 720p shouldn't matter unless you're sitting very close to it and using it as a computer monitor or something!

      32" is so small for a 1080p.
Samsung put a very reflective screen in front of the LCD screen to increase the contrast ratio. Similar to the stupid reflective plastic they put on the laptop nowadays. This make the TV very difficult to watch in the day time if the room is bright.

#2, I'm sure that's just the conclusion Walmart wanted you to come to. You know, them trying to get you to spend more money and all.

If you're being honest with yourself, that's about the best most LCDs can do, regardless of what it says on the box.
