Anyone have any experience in downgrading this to XP? Does Dell provide all the drivers?

Just choose this version of the Vostro 1400 with XP. It also has discrete graphics. Worth the $50 difference. http://www.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/vostronb_1400?c=us&cs=04&l=en&s=bsd&~tab=bundlestab

Up grade to SXGA+ might be money better spend if you handles a lot of documents.

I agree that this is a great deal. I also think that for many it is worth the $50 to get a discrete video card and upgrade to 2GB ram. For others it won't make a difference, so save the $50.

I have a feeling this might be cheaper in a week to 10 days.

I ordered one of these last Tuesday, it was supposed to be shipped out today. However, instead of a shipping confirmation I got an email from Dell saying that the order has been delayed and will ship out 7 days from today....

For those new to bargain shopping, Dell business orders require that you have a "Tax ID" number or explain to them what "business" the computer will be used for.

They have a 2-week shipdate on the computer. I'll keep my fingers crossed about it getting here on time for Christmas!

      Thanks for your comments all!

I ran a configuration, with these changes:

85 WHr 9-cell Lithium Ion Additional Battery (upgrading the primary to 9-cell was $40, whereas upgrading the additional battery was $59. I figure 6cell + 9cell for $60 vs one 9-cell for $40). If I knew more about battery life, perhaps I could just sitck with the 6?

Integrated 2.0 mega pixel Web Camera - $40 (I'm feeling convenience vs. having to deal with a wire and a camera with added battery drain if I want to use one.)

14.1 inch Wide Screen XGA+ LCD Display with TrueLifeâ„¢ ($40). I don't even know the difference right now between XGA and XGA+, I'm just thinking it won't be a component I can upgrade later.

      Subtotal $738

      How's that look?

#12, require tax id? Do you mean you can no longer order from Dell small business just by giving your name as the company name?
