Does anyone know how easy it is to replace the processor on this? I mean, do the covers come off easily, or does it involve breaking tabs and whatnot ?

Make sure to upgrade the CPU to higher speed. This CPU speed is merely enough to run vista.

Got this a month ago. Dell did not ship the system with restore dvd, instead the put the restore image in one partition. I tried to redo the partition and screwed up the system the first day and unable to restore. Called Dell small business support which is super, send me a vista install disc and everything works great now except the 1.4GHz under performed slow cpu...

The best deal I have seen from Dell for the Vostro is the 1400 with 120gb hd 2gb ram and 128mb nvidia geforce graphics card all for 599 a couple of weeks back. Right now for 599 the vostro 1400 comes with 160gb hard drive and 9 cell battery but no graphics card. THAT SUCKS!
