      Depressingly low performance video chip.

#1 the integrated chip aint so bad. It can stil perform CS:S and Battlefield2 pretty well. At least it aint an Xpress1150 like on the Vostro 1000.

anyone know the weight of this?
or about the feel of the keyboard?

i was going to buy an old thinkpad on ebay (because my system requirements aren't that high but i need a good keyboard) but it seems weird to spend $400 on an old thinkpad when a brand new laptop is $600.

The Vostro 1500 is a little heavier then 6lbs and its quite beefy compared to other consumer notebooks (non business). However, I love the casing and the spillproof keyboard on the Vostro.

If your looking for performance, id recommend getting the 8600GT and the upgraded screen package on it. The keyboard on my Vostro 1400 is okay. The mouse pad is a little too close to the keyboard.

However, the simplicity of the notebook is great.

Be careful buying used laptops. They typically take a lot of abuse and develop problems sooner than desktops. If you must go used then go to the Dell outlet or buy on on Ebay that still has a manufacturer warranty. I have seen Dell laptops on Ebay that still have 1 year of complete care warranty.
