eBay with aSavings has the Waring Pro Stainless Steel Single Belgian Waffle Maker for $50 with free shipping. Found around $60 and up in other stores. Integrated with a browning control knob, rotates for even browning, and has LED ready indicator and audio signal. [Amazon Reviews]
I was a skeptic about these fancy waffle makers, always figuring that my "george foreman"-style stationary unit was adequate, until I encountered the rotating style at a hotel. It really does make better waffles, by distributing the batter evenly about the iron early in the cycle. It doesn't have to rely on the batter to expand and fill gaps, so any gaps left are in the core of the waffle, rather than appearing as discontinuities in the surface. They're picture-perfect, every time.
Only problem is cleanup, as a smidgen of the raw batter will often leak out during the flip maneuver. Not a big deal, but worth noting.
Just say no to rotating waffles... You're messing with the forces of the Coriolis Effect flipping waffles while they are cooking. Eating these waffles repeatedly over a period of time could cause you to become permanently dizzy...
I have a flipper its better and is necessary because the holes are deeper to get coverage. This one looks enormous, it'll take a shelf all by itself to store and lug out. They have smaller ones that are good.
Have this same model (it looks just like the one I have, model WWM450PC) and it works great! I've been using it nearly every weekend for about a year and the waffles come out really nice.
But you'll look like you are sophisticated to others storing such a large appliance on your counter top just to cook such a trivial thing as a waffle...
I'm very suspicious of people who don't thrive on attention, tho' with Facebook and Twitter it's hard to tell these days... everyone's an attention tomato.

I like products with a small form factor, but THIS THING LOOKS HUGE?

The problem I have with waffles is people look at you funny if you slap a piece of animal between two of them to make a sammich.
Yeah but you are getting attention that you probably thrive on...
