Amazon has the Waste King L-8000 Legend Series 1.0-Horsepower Continuous Feed Operation Waste Disposer for $113 with free shipping. Normally around $180. Features 2800 RPM, removable splash guard and includes 36" power cord.
Yep, put one in for My mom. I believe it's still one that is actually assemble in Anaheim, CA. and not yet moved to Mexico like all other manufactures of this stuff. Even if more parts aren't US procured, having Quality Dept and production still in the US means it still has folks that have employment here caring what goes into it. http://anaheimmfg.com/company/literature/pdf/WKEZ_1030.pdf
Awesome unit. Installed one to replace my leaking Badger5. Even though it's 4x the HP, this thing it QUIET. Has chewed up everything I've thrown into it. Just make sure you get the correct adapter if you're swapping instead of replacing entirely.
Same here: Installed this brand and love it. Take note of the size of the unit though. It was about 4X as big as the old crappy GE unit the builder put in. Took up a lot of my under sink cabinet space; not a big deal, but something to keep in mind.
The Hopper is just that area above where the grind ring and Swivel Impellers does the work. While the Grinding Chamber is I believe the area behind the grind ring, so that's just the valley that collects the waste and then out the elbow.
Nice price - paid $125 shipped in early June 2011. It disposes garbage very well (and quietly).

You can also find these at Sams Club for about the same price.

Did anybody notice the grinding chamber construction? Sounds like it is plastic. The reviews are generally positive but some are saying it is loud, and cheaply made.
Yea, Costco was where my folk ordered it and it was on the doorstep the next day!
