Enough with the GB/s bullcr@p, that's just plain marketing gimmick. A typical 7200rpm can transfer 200 mbps tops...that is in linear, large file reads. No point in sporting a 6gbps or even a 6million gbps interface.
The sata interface gimmick is very similar to those high-speed, 'gold plated' hdmi cable scam.
#1 ... the rest of us can tell that the 6 Gb/s is a newer generation than 3 Gb/s or 1.5 Gb/s drives. That's just ignoring the fact that it's also SAS compatible and isochronous streaming and faster reads from DRAM cache and...

The sustained transfer rate of SATA II (3 Gb/s) drives doesn't begin to max out the machine's PCIe buss where the controllers live.
SATA III (6 Gb/s) comes closer, but I suspect that inexpensive aftermarket cards won't be able to take full advantage.
