#1 - Probably overkill for a Tivo Series 3. There are cheaper options.
I'm holding out for SATA 12Gb/s drives.

May be overkill, but because it is reportedly a better quality drive (and does have a five year warranty) it may be never fail in your Tivo.
I think it's hard to say that quality is overkill. Failure is a drag.
