I'd assume #1 is right, but it's moot, 6.0Gb/s is just marketing hogwash except for high end SSDs. Typical for WD, like their green drives that supposedly adjusted rpm but actually never did.
The whole Green "adjusted RPM" was an intentionally vague marketing thing. They originally said the true RPM of the "Green" drives is "between 5400 and 7200 RPM" which sounds a whole lot like the drive adjusts its speed to save energy when not in use, but spins like a champ when you need it to. This, unfortunately, is not true. The drive's true speed in RPM is a fixed speed somewhere between 5400 and 7200, but they won't tell exactly what it is.
Requires compatible chipset 6.0Gb/sec
That is incorrect and requires proof.

@2 and 3 - Agreed. A 6Gbps connection means precisely squat when the drive can't even saturate an ATA133 cable to begin with.
