"These drives use less power and operate at lower temperatures and acoustics than standard desktop drives." I am going to go out on a limb and guess that all these things mean that this drive runs slower than most. Can anyone confirm that?
yes, they typically run at 5400 or 5900rpm depending on manufacturer of the "green drive". "Normal" drives are 7200rpm, high end drives are 10000 or 15000 RPM. "Extreme" drives are solid state (0 RPM).
Laptop drives can be as slow as ~3400RPM.
Check out tomshardware.com for HD performance charts.
Also $1 per GB more expensive than the 2 Dell 1.5TB hard drives for $200.

nice drive, good price, the only one better was the external version bb sold for 65
Yes, a little slower than the black. BUT I have 8 of these and they are great - been running for a long time, and they are awesome!

#4 I guess I should have worded slightly different such as on the dollar ... or pennies per gig. Didn't think anyone cared about the math so much other than my main statement is still true for the cheapest over all drive regardless of a sub $100 solution. =p

Oh no, we at Ben's always care about the math. That's why we all click on Ben's links, so we can help pay for his remedial math night classes. You are correct. The deal you posted is $66.67 per gig. This drive is about $8.33 more per gig. Because you expect to get a better price at a higher volume, I'd say the deals are about equal. It's all good though, except for #7. She's all angry over the herpes she got from her mail order monkey bride.
$66.67 per gig would make that deal $200,000, and this one would cost $75,000 dollars. I think you mean per/terabyte and not per/gigabyte.
