64 MB Cache?
Newegg says it has a 64MB cache
All the "EARS" drives are indeed 64MB. But don't get too excited, it's not that big of a deal.
Still a good drive and a good price. They're great for storing audio, video, backups, etc. that don't require blazing speeds. I have this exact drive, very happy with it, considering buying 3 more for RAID 1+0.
Reasonably reliable, but beyond that not all that good. EARS has 4K sectors and is not good for RAID because WD permanently disabled TLER support which is important for arrays to avoid members dropping out.
Indeed the 64MB cache is no big deal, there is diminishing return on more than 16MB... even 8MB cache 7200RPM drives outperform it if performance is the priority.
The price is not bad, but they recently had two deals for 1.5TB Samsung F2 & F3 at $65, so the price isn't all that great either.
May I suggest instead...
SuperBiiz has Samsung F2 Ecogreen 1.5TB HDD - 10% Coupon Code:PREPPY (exp 8/15/10) w/free S/H =$68

#5 thanks i missed this last week and was glad to see that it was still around. Got one.
If you buy a green drive for "performance" than you shouldn't be buying hard drives to begin with.
