would only use this drive for storage/backup purposes. I have mine inside my PCH A110, and it's been running nice and quiet for about 4 months straight now

Modern 500GB platter drives are fast enough for casual PC users even at 5400RPM, especially these days with memory cheap enough the typical system is caching much of the I/O.
