    Scorpio is WD's laptop drives. Black means it's 7200RPM (fastest spindle speed for laptop). The Raptor is for desktops and vs SSDs, there are pros & cons (SSDs typically have slow write speeds).

    Definitely better than SSD if you want value capacity over performance. You'd pay 10-15x as much for same size SSD if it even exists.

    Might even be better performance than some high end SSD for some workloads.

    BTW, ths drive gets good write ups for speed, power and heat. I believe this model doesn't have the G sensor that parks the heads during freefall.

    @#1 a raptor drive is a desktop 3.5 inch drive. This is a 2.5 inch Notebook drive as it says in the description. If you are interested in a performance drive for a desktop, you are looking at the wrong item.
