I am hoping to see 10000rpm notebook harddrive. I really love my raptor drive in my desktop.

So I upgraded my Asus EEE 1000H with one of these, going from 5400rpm 160gb to 7200rpm 320gb, and am finding the WD Scorpio produces a WHOLE LOT OF VIBRATION.

Is this to be expected with a 7200rpm laptop drive, or did I get a dud?

You can feel a noticeable "hum" through your palms on the computer which wasn't an issue with the factory drive (which I think was a Seagate).

Just want to know the difference between 5400 and 7200 rpm in terms of seeking speed. Does 7200 rpm really improve the computer reading and writing speed? Thanks in advance.

vibration tend to vary from drive to drive--more of a q/c issue rather than brand/model. while it probably doesn't affect operations, it really is annoying if you get one that is worse than average. if you really can't stand it, I think it's justified to return for replacement.
