Is this a good price for notebook HD? Looking to upgrade to a 500 or maybe 750.

This is average for this size drive but if you're looking to upgrade to a 500 or 750GB drive then this doesn't work for you anyways.

there's no 750GB drive for laptop yet... the largest size you can find in 2.5" form factor is 500Gb right now.

I don't recall if there is any 7200rpm 2.5" form factor exceed 320GB. If you were looking for performance, this is the one. If you were looking for capacity, 500GB 5400rpm shall cost you around $100.

ended up grabbing it. Nice upgrade from my 160 5200. Plus I have a 250 external. Dont dl much music/movies, just have a ton of programs. My 160 was starting to fill up, with when have of my programs run off my external. Not sure how much difference ill notice with the 7200, heard it was mainly for gaming/multimedia??

    #4, Seagate makes a 7200RPM 2.5" 500GB, it's the 7200.4 Momentus. It's in short supply right now.

Benchmarks for it so far show the highest transfer rates for a laptop drive though the access time is actually slower than the 7200.3 320GB drive.

#8, is that a joke because otherwise that doesn't make sense. That's like making the kessel run in 12 parsecs.

    Read here:

The Hitachi's are cheap. The Seagate's are fast and really hard to get. These are a nice balance between fast and cheap.

WD and Seagate make 2 platter 500GB 5400rpm 2.5" drives.(WD Scorpio WD5000BEVT). Higher areal density means higher throughput speed and fewer platters also means lower power usage and cooler operation.

7200 RPM 2.5 yes, a great deal and you will see the difference if specially if you have lots of RAM. But if you only post here and browse the Internet the even a 4200 RPM drive would do the trick.
