The Seagate drive comes up as $39.99 after rebate for me. Don't see how to get it free. ??
Ben frequently makes atrocious math errors.
Note that the WD external 1 TB drive (2 HDs) has a three year warranty. It's the FIRST external that I've ever seen with a three year warranty... unless CompUSA has made another error on their website by advertising a three year warranty when there's only one year. Not only do they frequently make such descriptive errors, they are terribly poor on fixing them.
Checked WD's site. It's not an error. Three year warranty.

Once again, thanks to Seagate for their five year warranty. It's forced WD to adjust their warranties on internals from one year to three like it used to be. As I mentioned, this is the first external with a three year warranty that I've ever seen, including those from Seagate. Maybe WD thought they'd gain an upper hand on external sales with this. Nevertheless, in my mind, Seagate's action to increase their warranties first was the provocation for even this.
Ahhh... Ben has already fixed his math error!
Are these deals also valid at closing stores? Only the closing stores are nearby where I am staying.
i heard something about closing stores being not valid for mail-in-rebate offers, fyi
#4, NO they are not. A "liquidator" controls all inventory and NO sales are valid at closing stores -- only the graduated "percent off" reductions they are SLOWLY incorporating.
Just one more indication that CompUSA has no consideration for their customers. They haven't even bothered to pass this information along. One has to go to the closing stores to find out they've wasted their time.
If the rebate is from the manufacturer, then I would think you'd have no (added) problem getting the rebate (any more than you would normally from the rebate handler -- and we know that some of them are less than scrupulous).
