this drive can be used to replace the 20gb xbox hd. Google it, this drive is usually 99-160 for the xbox version and 50ish for the drive at newegg.

See not necessarily true, right? from what I've heard you can't just swap it out unless you've got a hacked 360. Now when it comes to PS3 this should work, but keep in mind its only 5400rpm. Not fast enough for anything I can think of besides a crappy old laptop or a webserver.

You don't need a hacked xbox

    Via joystick

"If you're not buying Microsoft's excuses for why their 120GB hard drive costs $179, you don't have to buy the drive either. A mysterious hacker called "TheSpebacont" has released a new version of his program HDDHackr, which now allows you to make your own 120GB drive for the Xbox 360. It's not perfect -- you can only use a Western Digital SATA drive and you need a certain file from an official Microsoft drive. But with some time, effort, and around $80 for the drive, you'll get to keep about $100 of your hard-earned money in your nacho-cheese-stained paws. (With a little more work, you can even install the drive internally.)

The OEM 360 XBOX hd is 5400 as well

what's the big deal with swapping drives on an Xbox? Image the drive with Ghost or Acronis, and the new drive has everything on the old one. It's standard SATA and will plug into any modern PC

#8 It's not that easy. Xbox checks the drive's firmware, not what's on it. The firmware must be patched. Microsoft wouldn't be able to sell it for $179 if all you had to do was plug in a new drive.

#6 you're dumb. Anywhere corporate knows you dont order 5400rpm laptop hard drives anymore otherwise they're not a good enough substitute for a desktop, complaints of slowness would swamp the IT department (and they have before). While I may have had my facts wrong in any case on the hard drive swapping, you don't need to be a jerk.

My personal laptop has a 5400 RPM and I am very satisfied with the performance. I'm upgrading my 60GB for the 120GB, because I want to be able to have more the two games installed at the same time and still have room to spare.
