These things go bad after 4 months. Don't buy it. They have no heat dissipation and they burn out and start making that clicking noise all the time as you slowly watch your data die.

I'm not even joking. My department bought 6 of these this year. All 6, every single one of them, has failed.

Seagate just had a HUGE sale on these. This price seems way too high now. Seagate had their 250GB for $38 and 120GB for $28.

I've had mine for a full year, no issues. I travel a crapload too, so I've abused it probably beyond spec.

The Seagate deal was a lot better. Perhaps its a sign that more of these will come down in price?

The old *silver* Passports seemed a hell of a lot more robust than these fingerprint magnets. Still, I've got a few of these and no deaths yet...

#3 jamex - I don't think you can consider that sale that Seagate did a normal event. I think they just wanted to clear out their stock so they sold them for cheap. Real cheap. If you landed one then you're one of the lucky few.

At $90 for a travel drive, the price isn't too bad. A little cheaper than what the normal prices is right now. I'd prefer the 250GB Seagate that Staples has on sale right now. Same price and same specs, but you get a 5yr warrant instead of a 3yr which I beleive this one has. Now, get me a 320GB travel drive for $90 and I'd be all over it. Amazon has one for $116

I've had the same drive except 120GB and been abusing it for a yr and a half now with no problem. I have to say, the surface scratch real easy though. If you care about the look, this is not for you

I ordered the 120gb Seagate for 30$ last Saturday and my order got canceled today cause they ran out of stock. All they gave me was a 10% off coupon from their outlet store, no option for a raincheck or anything like that.
