The reviews say it's not Win7 compliant and can only use WD drives. Apparently no WD NAS solutions are Win7 compliant.
Sweet. Way to lead the industry.
I have not had a problem with the software and with the World Edition 2TB (1x2)
I believe they are picky about drives.
I can't imagine that Win7 access would be prevented over the network. WD support is often clueless, IMHO. They just haven't tested it and if there is a management client to be loaded, perhaps, perhaps, it doesn't work on Win7. A newegg reviewer said it worked for him with Win7-x64.
This device is cheap for what it does when compared to any competition. I've built my own external 4 drive arrays and they cost about $220 without any drives. OTOH, I much prefer eSATA connections and let my server determine the client access modes and methods. There's no question of which clients can be supported then.
It does work with Win 7. I have no idea WTF people are talking about - it just shares a folder. You dump stuff to it. It works. End of story. No client software needed, all web based.
My biggest gripe with it, is that is SLOW, even on a gigabit network.
I have the 4tb model...love it.
Only grip like number #4 says is that it is slow for the drives to spin up if it hasnt been used in awhile. Once the drives are spinning I get your normal 1gb transfer speeds.
I recommend this!
