You can wait all you want for prices to fall. Just like everyone else waiting for the PS3 to drop to $199 and jump on it right when they showcase the PS4 lol.
It is people like you that keep PS2 games coming instead of PS3 games.
Price point right now should be $0.20/GB for 2.5" portables, $0.10/GB for 3.5" external.
