NewEgg.com has the Western Digital Caviar GP WD10EACS 1TB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive for $100 with free shipping. This a brand new drive covered by the original 3-year warranty. Just think of the joy you'll have when it finally fails.

WD Caviar 1TB 32mb cache Black series (fileserver duty, run 24/7) is $20 more also with free shipping. Item N82E16822136284. Much better if you plan to run the drive continuously. 5yr warranty.

I'd rather do the Seagate 1.5TB for $130 & free shipping.
5 year warranty and 50% more drive for only $30.

    I like my Friday deal for 2 1.5TB Seagates @ $241.97 - $36 live.com cash rebate for a total of $205.97.

ok anyone who buys WD over seagate better have a better reason than this. Seagate offers 5 year warranty, WD only 3.

and hey #5 energyx - if you think you got a "Deal" those seagate drives have a known problem, and live.com rebates are a hoax

Spend a little more and get the WD 1TB Caviar Black. It has superior performance over any other 1TB drive out there right now. If you are looking for speed and reliability, you can't go wrong with that drive. Otherwise go with the Samsung F1, or Seagate barracuda and save a few bucks

#6 mdheinzer, they also have a firmware update to fix the problems if I happen to get an older drive. Also, I got the drives for $119.99 each with $1.99 shipping on the order. If the live.com cashback does fall through, it's still a much better deal than anything Ben is posting on here today.

I'm waiting for WD 1TB black edition for this price. I have WD 750GB GP, works well, but slow.

As soon as you buy it, register the SN on WD site. Trust me, I have been using and working privately and professioanlly with WD. If you fail to register it, it still has a Warranty but it may have a date that started at the time it shipped to the seller and not the buyer. This happened to me once on WD drive I bought at Best Buy. Register your products to get the full warranty period.

On a postive side WD is great about giving Warranty if you forget. But the clocks starts early. And they are great at shipping repalcements or giving you a discount on upgrading drives in and out or Warranty, go on line and put in your serial number.

#13 has it right. But when it works, their warranty service is tops.

I just got this 1 TB WD Drive, plugged it in, and Failure. Called WD, but its easier to go online to request an RMA. 1st time in 20 years that I had a HD fail on the first use. Luckily my main drive is a 1 TB Segate, this is my backup disk. Maybe I should stick to cd's.....
