#23 he means figuratively. Seagate has had firmware problems with their 7200.11 drives.

#25, most likely it's faster (tho it kinda depends on which 500GB drive you're referring to). But anyhow the WD Caviar black is a top performer for 7200RPM drives:

One. I don't do rebates anymore.
Two. Want nothing to do with eBillme.
That makes the drive $105 plus shipping. Pass

Phew, for a second I thought I'd gotten ripped off several weeks ago. Enough with the Ecrapola, Ben.

the firmware issues with the 7200.11s are now addressed.. that aside i think these drives are comparable... actually i also read that WD has/had firmware issues recently...

#31, you need to check the benchmarks. The WD Black drives are vastly superior to both the Seagate 7200.11 and 7200.12 drives.

Between a WD Caviar Black 1TB and a Seagate 7200.11 1TB I would get the WD.

However, if it is between a Seagate 7200.12 1TB and WD 1TB I would get whatever is cheaper.

Not really a deal when you have to jump through hoops just to get the rebates.

Using ebillme will cause a delay in shipping of a day or 2 while they wait for payment. That's the main drawback of it. The benefit is mostly for people who can't get a credit card. The shipping charge on this deal makes it weak.
