Probably the best 1tb drive out there. Not a bad price at all especially w/o a MIR.

I'd pay $30 more and get it at NewEgg.

    Dell sucks.

Okay. $17, but it IS a darn nice drive. BTW, WD Lifeguard doesn't work with 64-bit OS (in case anyone is interested).

Yeah. You have to give Newegg props. I ordered it, put a $2.99 rush on it and had it in two days, regular (free) shipping. I've never had a bad experience with them.

#5 - True that. If you're on the west coast, you get your stuff super quick. I've ordered a dozen things from newegg, choose the 3 day (cheapest) shipping, which is sometimes free and as long as I get the order in by around 2pm, I ALWAYS get it the next day, in Vegas. Usually less than 24 hours. I don't believe in the 2.99 rush thing because they always ship same day from my experience.

What about all the people who claim that NewEgg won't wrap their OEM drives properly? I've read of many stories where individuals get their drives put in bubble wrap, then placed in a box with foam peanuts. Anyone care to comment on that?

I got up to the part where I enter my credit card info, but my conscious finally got to me... Dell burp with me and a lot of others back in Xmas 07 on a great GT 8800 deal. After waiting nearly a month I got it from Buy.com.

I said I would avoid them in the future. This is me avoiding them and waiting for Newegg to match this deal.

Newegg is alright. My biggest complaint is that they ship out from their warehouse about 20 miles from where I live and they don't allow pickup. I tracked the shipping and it travels about 100 miles and 2 days later to get to me. Even better is that I'm not home when they deliver so I usually have to go to UPS the next day about 10 miles away to pick up.

No longer the best 1TB drive on the market.
There's a huge known issue with the 11th gen (7200.11) Baracuda drives, Seagate will be releasing (or has released already) the highest density platters ever on their Gen 12 (7200.12) HD's, it's faster then any 7200RPM drive on the market, the 1TB drive has 2 Platters each with 500GB, the speed is higher as a result, it got a 9/10 KickAss rating and hopefully will make good on their name again.

SEAGATE WILL RULE IN THE HD MARKET AGAIN (if there ever is a market again Smile

#13, even that's the case. I'd still choose this drive over the Seagate.
Because I can't feel that 0.1~0.3 second faster speed of the 7200.12 drives, but 2 more years of warranty on this drive, I'm surely appreciate that.

#9 - That is true....NewEgg ships their OEM drives in bubble wrap w/ foam peanuts.

No real suprise to me though since I know I'm ordering a OEM drive and even though it's packed as stated above it's well packed and I've never received a damaged drive or DOA.

Tax, Shipping and Dell farking me over a few times kill the deal. Hate waiting weeks, then calling them to get the news that this order got cancelled with no notice.
