4k sector warning. Without proper formatting you will loose 50% of the disk performance.
if you have win7 then you're fine.
seems like i pretty good deal
#2 only presuming that the partitioning was done under w7 and not some 3rd party tool or XP and then copied to the new drive.
#3 If it were not for the *free "M" Club signup* this would be a deal.
who explicitly goes out of their way to format a drive in windows XP and then install/run win7 on it without bothering to do a re-format from within either a) win7 or b) win7 installation??? Honestly?
And the free M club signup just takes another $5 off the price for a total of $90. At $90, or $95, this is still $10-$20 cheaper than most places, and therefore a deal.
These WD Green label HDs have high defect rates. I would stay away from these green label WDs. Blue ones are ok..
Heh, to show how tech savvy I am I had always thought the "Green" meant Earth Friendly. *blush*
#7, "Green" means you are about to be exploited by spending your money based on emotion rather than logical reasoning using proven facts.
Kinda explains Johnny Walker Black.
is the coupon code dead?
You have to join the FREE Mwave "M club" to use the coupon.

raid 5 here i chowder!!
Can anyone recommend a good storage array solution. I am looking at the drobo but at 295$ and that doesn't even include a drive. it's kind of expensive.
You want good or you want cheap #13? The standard solution is build a server. You know, that arbitrary combination of case, PSU, mobo, CPU, and a few hard drives. Better cooling, standard parts you can replace if they fail later, potential for more drive bays, higher performance, more flexible configurations.
It'll use a bit more power and take up a couple extra cubic feet of space, but it'll also be capable of lots of other things like media streaming, proxies, mail, etc.
