This can't be a good deal. WD stuff is great, though, and I got 2TB for slightly over $100 last month. That one is overpriced imho.
#1 The 2TB drive you got was almost certainly a 3.5", whereas this is a 2.5" drive - the 2.5 inchers are always more expensive - miniaturization and all that.
Was the 2TB portable like this one, or does it need a power cord?
The 2TB one was was an AC powered one. This portable one is not a bad price if you need a portable HD.
60 bucks for a 500GB 2.5" isn't too bad of a deal. Sure, you can get a 3.5" for a lot cheaper, but those are becoming less and less popular due to having to use a required power supply, plus they are usually at least 2x more bulky. For me, I don't even look at deals on 3.5" HDD anymore. 2.5" is the only way to go.
I've always had great success with WD drives. IMO, they are about the most reliable.
