anyone had "real world" experience with these reds? or is it just an marketing scheme?

To #1, if you get a good drive out of the box they are pretty solid in a NAS environment both for performance and power. The problem is, the initial defect rates are pretty high so it's a bit of crapshoot at this point.
Pretty sure that there are rotational speed differences between some of the models also.
Are these usable as regular non-NAS drives?
I've been running 2 of these in a home server for the past month. No complaints. Cool and quiet.
