I agree with you #1 but I don't hate it. These produce more heat, noise, use more energy and have a higher rate of failure (bc of the moving parts) than SSD's. While SSD's are expensive they are perfect for boot drives.
Kind of hate the SSD drives are really putting these things out in the street.

I have had 10k raptors last me over 5 years now. Still fast today. But yes, they are hot.
and not only that sectoring a larger drive makes them much better compared to these. the velici are kind of dead now a days.
