    Well worth it!
Plays anything and stopped me from looking at building a HTPC.

Is this better than a DVR? I know they're same concept but my DVR is very easy to use and efficient but for the price of these (types of units) I'd just buy one and throw a 1 TB hdd in it.

This thing is awesome, plays any format. Just a heads up this model does NOT have NetFlix on it. If that matters.

Just the plain WD Live, not the Plus version.

#2 it is not a DVR. It simply plays any rips in almost any format that you have stored on an external hard drive.

Asus o!play is better. At least it's default OK to resume the movie, better than WD says Cancel!meaning going back to the begin of the movie.

Doesn't say if it supports ISO (although I guess that's likely). Also, speaking of competition - the Patriot player (and its many clones) are capable of copying files over, from your PC, via WiFi. I haven't tried it yet, but it seems like a nice feature to have.

Crap one! If you try to play media files over home network, forget it!

It plays all my avi's,iso's,mkv's on my home network without any issues. I did, however, had issues playing over the network but was my setup and not the media player. They have a beta firmaware that supports dvd menus from iso/vobs
