can you use this to actually go to websites and view internet content on ones tv?
and if you cannot with this wd plus is there a device, besides getting a laptop and hooking it up to the tv that you can view websites?
#1, you can't with this device. I think Viewsonic or some other brands let you do that but sucks at what this thing does best, streaming content.
I bought this thinking it would allow me to watch my movies on my home network through the ethernet port.
I have the original USB version, and playing ISO files hasn't been an issue for me, but through the ethernet port on my network, they won't play.
I am able to play everything on this. It is great. I just wish they would get an iphone app to control it.
I had been waiting for that $65 refurb one on the WD site to come back. For $15 more I'll buy it new....
I have a non-plus version already (WD TV Live), and it works GREAT across my network. I stream 1080P content from an IOMega Home Media Drive, and it NEVER skips a beat. I try to stick with x264 encoded stuff. I have played some AVIs and full DVD rips without problems.
This Plus version is going out in my workshop so I can stream Netflix out there (I have a Bluray in the house that does already).
