Not sure about support or firmware since I have not had issues with my device for the year that I have had it. I use it occasionally for long trips in the car hooked up to the car's built-in LCD display, and occasionally inside for Netflix support. I have the earlier version of this also and never had a problem with it. Not sure why you refer to it as "broken product".
I have the older version and the current version. This little box is AWESOME!!! It has great reviews.
