fails at 1080p
Wah, I can't finf a WMP mkv codec.
I've had this thing for about two months now. I use a Canon HD media camcorder that records in AVCHD. Originally it was a pain since this unit supposedly plays Blu-ray but not AVCHD. As a result, I had to change all of the file extensions from .mts to .m2ts at which it would play in 1080p on my plasma.
But now they have the new updated patch so I can play videos straight from the 16sdhc card without having to change the file extension. The videos are pretty awesome. I also have an external hard drive and my videos are stored on it, which I play through this thing.
Great product and simple to use.
#19 crujones do you happen to have the link to the software you used... Audio Converter. so this will work on the mkv file to convert the dts file to ac3?
#17 -- This WD TV HD plays Xvid (and Divx) files via HDMI to your TV.
Give up on using this for MKV and go get yourself a popcorn hour. Be prepared to pay lots more and wait quite a while to get one, though.
popcorn hour > this...
If it doesn't have HDMI, I see no reason to buy it. The "Screenplay" from Omega seems like a better deal, with HD included.
#17 Popcorn Hour can do it. I just got my popcorn hour for christmas. It's clearly more expensive, but I love the unit. It's much smaller than a pc behind your TV, it has HDMI, it's networked, and local storage on an SATA harddrive, and it has 2 USB ports for thumbdrives or portable harddrives. It supports XVID and a ton of other formats. The only format I couldn't get it to play was dvr-ms, the format that Windows Media Center records in. It can also run its own bittorrent client to download video directly to itself.
This is a good product, i have 1!
