ecost sucks. Ecost and refurbished sucks even more, if that is possible.
got this same refurb from WD Store and never had a problem with it. not sure about the reliability of ecost tho. good deal either way.
I got one from the WD Store, too. It was a few years ago and the unit died with days left on the warranty. No problem; they sent a replacement promptly. Still using it and works well.
eCost seems to have a lower standard for what they'll resell as a refurb than other places, but in all fairness the other refurb products I bought from them were fine...
I just don't shop there anymore after the time they were out of stock on one item in my order, didn't notify me and just shipped the incomplete order (was a free USB hub after $4 rebate), then billed me a second time for shipping it once they got the hub in stock again so instead of being free after rebate I ended up paying an extra ~$8 for it AFTER the rebate.
