I bought one and had to immediately return it after I plugged it in and could see through the vent that It caught a little fire on the mother board. This comes with an aftermarket power adapter. Kinda scary but, they gave me another immediately and that one works great.
I bought one of these from the WD Store last year. It performed very well until about 2 wks. ago when it died. There were 7 days left on the warranty. WD immediately issued an RMA number. I sent it to them and they replaced it promptly.
It does not pay digital movies that coded with dts sound. I have to connect the digital sound through my home audio player and hdmi to the TV to get the sound. Pay a few more bucks to get Asus.
i've used the newer one and the asus - and the wd is superior in just about every way. The menus are faster - the output looks better, and the overall feel is much more polished and user friendly.. just imo.
This one is used.
refurbished.um. sounds scary

does it play rm?
Not touch even new one...
These are good units. Plays my AVCHD video files without having to convert them first. They're inexpensive enough to buy new; skip the refurb.

I don't have issue with mine. This unit delays my HTPC project since I got it...
