Yah. That's how the Popcorn Hour works. It has a space for a SATA drive, but also has a USB interface and an ethernet port. So you can use it any way you choose.
Had this unit about a year ago. Didn't play few of my MKV's for some reason. I wanted a NIC as well to stream from my NAS so switched for a more expensive EGreat M34a and that works like a charm. Bought that off Amazon, no complaints so far.
not bad. the unit with the NIC is better.
this things blows cause you need a hard drive for it to work, it itself has no memory in it
Aren't there similar devices that will hold hard drive in them? That I think would be better as you will have just one box to deal with.

Will this stream Netflix?
Get the Live version. It's far better.
This will not stream Netflix #5.
Thanks #7
Not RM?
Support Media Formats
Video:MPEG 1/2/4, WMV9, AVI (MPEG4. Xvid. AVC). H.264, MKV. MOV (MPEG4. H.264)
It's a good price. But, it's slow and outdated.
I agree, if this doesn't have network capability then it's a no-deal. Networked media tanks are the way to go...for me anyway.

i have this now. pretty good unit. plays my mkv's fine #12.
I was excited until I realized this wasn't the newest LIVE version. Question is the LIVE version $45 better?
Same price that Best Buy has it. Buy it from Newegg to avoid shipping and tax.
