I can't seem to find an answer to this, but...

Can you leave a large external drive attached, and then periodically copy stuff to that drive from a thumbdrive through this thing, or do I have to unplug the external harddrive, and add files from my PC? Can it move/copy between the two drives attached to it?

I leave mine plugged into a mybook 1tb. When I need to add data, I connect it to my computer and transfer files. This is one of the best buys I have made.

Just saw a previous poster mention the ASUS Oplay. Looks like a very competitive device--too bad it won't have the community of firmware developers that the WD has--but it will have an ethernet port and an eSATA port, two things I'd appreciate. I'm guessing it'll run somewhere in the mid-100's.

What filesystems (on the USB drives) can it read ? Only FAT32 ? What about NTFS or EXT2 ?

I ask because many HD files can exceed 4GB.

A future software update is going to have the ability to transfer between the USB ports. WD and outside groups are very active to update the firmware.

#2 I bought mine from BuyDig and did not get charged tax in CA.

the NTFS files take 5-10 minutes for them to read. for some reason wd paired this to work fast with the mybook and passport drives. why would they ever format a 1tb mybook fat32, I cannot move 4gb files or larger to it without reformatting.

This is a cool little device. It makes my little 700mb avi movies look amazing on a big tv.

What's bad about this is that it lacks an ethernet port so can't stream content via Shares or copy from PC over the net. I prefer Egreat M34A over this. PCH is nice as well but way too expensive.
