VHF? UHF? You mean those things that were in the Radio Shack catalog 30 years ago?

For $32 I bet this is alot better deal then most realize, this would be great for HD channels over the air if you needed it.

Point I was trying to make is the "1080" designation is marketing cr@p, a UHF bowtie is a UHF bowtie same as it was 30 years ago. You can make your own probably twice as effective with some coathangers and a 2x4. Make a reflector of aluminum foil on cardboard and put it behind whatever antenna you already have (not touching the wires) and it will reflect more signal strength in whichever direction you point it.

Whether you buy this or build your own 'coathanger special' is mostly a matter of how much your time is worth. If you value an hour of your time more than $32, then this is probably a good way to go.

I think the key here is that it can mount my 2" diameter pipe.

#5 depends on the market. I am in a mixed VHF/UHF digial market ( annoying since I needed to get a much larger antenna for my situation ).

#9, If someone's time is worth over $32 per hour, what would they be doing here looking at "bargains"? Would they really save more than $32 for every hour they spend here? If they were to buy this they would still have to spend time at the buy.com site, receiving the package with the antenna, setting it up, etc.

I used a big rabbit ear antenna that I already had to get HDTV, my bowtie antenna was much smaller. I will probably build the big one shown on youtube out of coathangers and a 2x4 someday.

I bill my time at $65 per hour. That doesn't mean I'm not up for a break every now and then. I charge $65 per hour so I don't have to work 24 hours a day, not so I can work 24 hours a day.
