No VHF-lo, poor VHF-hi, bland UHF performance.
Try an HD-4400 if you need UHF only or an HD7000R if you need a little VHF-lo (as well as VHF-hi and UHF).
Max 2" diameter pipe? Got the same one mounted on a 4" pipe. Albeit on the inside wall with some bolts but, nonetheless, a 4" diameter pipe!

This is not a sale price. Its always about $33 at Buy.com. I have this antenna. rjs is right, for the most part. low VHF is OK, if you're close to the transmitter. high VHF is terrible (e 9-13).
But its cheap!
Mine had the crap beaten out of it and I'm replacing it with a HD7000R
