I've been trying to get me a bag-o-crap for years. It'd be nice if Ben had an email notification system so I would know when it was posted.

What information are you entering into the alert configuration? Is your email address correct/current for where you want to receive the alerts in your Ben's Bargain account?
An email notification from Ben's would be completely worthless for a BOC. You need to be on the Woot site the exact second it's posted, already logged in, to even have a shot at getting one.
That being said, I've heard the BOC isn't anything to write home about since Amazon took over the site. I personally don't think Woot is nearly as good anymore (feels like it's all leftovers and refurbs).
That's usually the trend with corporate take-overs...
Ben's famous for featuring one minute deals so this notification would fit in nicely.. So what's the alternative for #1?

You misunderstood. I was talking about Woot's offerings seeming like leftovers and refurbs on a daily basis. Back in the day people actually used to get great things from time to time in the BOC. Woot is pretty much coasting on reputation now.
zzyzx, a one minute deal would be far too long for a BOC. The site usually crashes in about 10 seconds when they post one due to traffic. best to follow pikksta's advice if you hope to get one.
There used to be some apps that would notify you when the next item came up on woot-offs, though getting in on a BOC is still random luck since as others mentioned, you only have seconds to jump on it.
#9, In my opinion, Woot's Bag of Crap is really a bag of crap.. No interest in it at all from me.
The best Ben can do for #1 is to send the instant notification. If that's not fast enough #1 should consider himself lucky. Heck, if he wants it that bad he can pay me and I'll send him a bag of crap...
#5 i agree there's been a noticible change since amazon took over woot. Rarely is there anything for sale for under $100 and most items are refurbs. Also can you believe that kate is pregnant?
