#11 I don't know if the Wii is analogous to "power rangers" and "hannah montana" - I think its just the mainstream adoption of the system and not the consuming craze of kids alone (that however may be what fuels Nintendo DS sales). The wii is a media friendly product which most people can relate to quickly and pick up and enjoy - even retirement homes have wiis, all of my friends in their late 20's and 30's (without kids) have one, your parents may know what a wii is and might have even bought one at Sam's Club/Costco because Oprah played it with Serena Williams on Good Morning America. It's a product with an inescapable (but probably not deserved) media presence, which I think Nintendo was going for in the first place - rather than competing head on with the more powerful systems.

I own a wii (not a fanboy) but I also have a PS3 and I would never think of playing any first person shooter on wii or anything requiring serious online capability/processing. However when drinking with a group of friends the wii will be the only thing anyone wants to play because it makes people feel more involved and it is generally more enjoyable among groups friends -no one would turn down playing the wii version of guitar hero because the "graphics suck", Wii is just a easily approachable novelty that provides a lot of fun -- and isn't that the point after all? The weekend belongs to wii, the weekdays after work belong to xbox360 and PS3.

This seems like a pretty good price, but I wonder how much they will be in another year?

Got it. MS has the 20GB drive and 3 months of Live for $29. That will get you the bare minimum to get online and start trashtalking.

Cheapest around and I have been hunting for a while.

Highly recommend that you get a hard drive for the 360. Otherwise, you can still use it to play games and use it as a media extender.

as long as yours ships from the carlisle, pa warehouse it will be a jasper. YMMV if it comes from somewhere else.

#19, non-jaspers have on-board 254MB as well. From what i've read the way to tell if it is jasper is by the power output label. 150W is suppose to be jasper. I have a new arcade with a 175W adapter and on-board 256MB, BTW. I don't think I got the jasper rev.

jaspers will say 12v-12.1A on the rear sticker over 'made in china' - older ones say 12V-14.2A
