Actually, I heard that Sony is going to charge soon as well. They need to do something to improve PSN.

I think from a "business" view, Sony messed up in not charging, by charging like xbox does, they have to maintain a certain level of hardware and stuff. Anyways, it's definitely worth it, common, Halo 3? can you say grifball?

No, Sony made a good decision in not charging. Many reasons:

1. It'll be a big selling point (Example: I want to play burnout online, but don't want to pay for online services == PS3 version of burnout wins)
2. "I already have xbox live subscription, why would I pay $$$ for a system that I don't even have gamerpoints on?"
3. No subscription fees means more players online (nearly 25% xbox owners do not have xbox live subscription == means that 25% potential online players will not participate in online matches). More players online == more popular platform.
4. PS3 is already expensive enough, adding online fees will definately scare away potential customers.

lol, you're talking about $3/month people. Most of the console crazed kiddies spent 20x that much a month on games. I've never played PS3, nor seen it's online content, but I'm happy with my xbox live paying $3/mo.

12/19 = .63, SO 37% do not have xbox live subscription

This is a good deal. I bought it since I was just about to renew in Sept. $40 for 13 months better than $50 for 12.
