#15 I think microsoft charges $100 for an out of warranty repair(exchange for a refurb unit)
my first xbox died after about 30 months of hard use and moving etc, and I purchased a new one from dellhome.com for around 185 shipping and tax included. This was the brand new HDMI version with the full 1 year total warranty + 3 year 3 ring extended warranty so for the extra $30 I would do that. It also came with an extra wireless controller, which I obviously didn't need but is a $30 value. Mine arrived in 3 days. When I first purchased my first xbox back in the day I bought the cheap arcade version and purchased a used hard drive from amazon for about 60% of retail. Do not buy overpriced microsoft accessories unless you absolutely have to. If you want to add wireless to your xbox look up DDWRT and xbox 360 and you should be able to find a tutorial for converting a simple wireless router to a bridge for under $40.
