I highly recommend this deal. You'll be happier with this than a PS3 or Wii.

it's actually really $290-300 bucks because what's the point of having a 360 w/o a wireless adapter? As long as we're on this topic... the reason to have a wireless adapter is to be able to play on X-box live.... which will cost you an extra 35-50 bucks a year depending on if you can get a deal or not.....

So really, you're playing close to $350 bucks for this 360. From a pure economic stand-point, the PS3 is a better deal as you can get all of the above for around 300 bucks with the recent Sony Style deal. Plus you get the Blu-ray drive.
If you really want to please the kid/gf/wife, buy the Wii for some "casual" gaming.... smirk** But you'll get bored of it in about a week.

I'd wait until the Gears of War 2 bundle to get a 360.

I was looking to buy this 360 to use as a HD media extender since I've read setup is among the easiest out there presently. Too bad it lacks HDMI.

Anyone know where I can get a refurb 360 w/HDMI from a somewhat reputable merchant? Much thanks in advance!

Neither am I. I'm just telling the truth. Why buy a 360 when you can't get on XBL? As that's a huge selling point for Microsoft. Since I don't want to have wirings all over my house, I opted to buy a wireless adapter (90 bucks) plus a subscription to XBL (50 buck/year).
Hey, MS' got my money. I'm just voicing the "hidden" costs of this deal.

If this is the non-HDMI version, you might be in for a sad surprise. The non-HDMI version had the older chips and bad soldering which caused the red circle of death. I have personally returned my 360, to Microsoft, twice for replacements. My current, third 360 is hanging by a thread. Spend the additional $$ for the newer HDMI version with the 65 nm chips.

    #8:
    why?

What if I need to tweek my settings for my other pc's in the house? It's a lot easier to do that on my PC than my xbox?

What settings are you trying to tweak? Last I checked you can log into your wireless router from a wireless connection. You can also hook up a media pc in your living room too, which would allow you to watch things like youtube and such on your tv, and then tweak your network as you wish. Usually the living room is more in the center of the house, which would be better for your wireless signal anyway. But if you really need to use wifi, just get a $20-$30 linksys or belkin etc wireless adapter, and that way you'll have a wireless adapter for any pc that doesn't have a wireless card. I think it's pretty obvious that the one that says "Microsoft Xbox" on it is going to be overpriced. And $3/month for xbox live isn't worth it? It's less than a gallon of gas for a month of entertainment.

I guess it depends on how you look at it. I think it's worth it, and I hated the idea of a Microsoft console until I bought a used 360 5 months ago.

It's been documented that wires are better since wireless can cause cancer over time.

LOL Didn't realize that Ben's was a place for 360 fanboys. You guys must own stock in MS to be able to justify to defending MS like this (or you work for them).
That's fair, but buy at your own risk. Pretty soon, you'll be wondering where all your money went. You just don't get the most bang with your buck as Ben's is a place for ghetto dogs. I thought trying to get the best bang for your bucks was why this place exist?
    Enjoy the RROD boys.

Hey bro, if you have a laptop, just put it next to the xbox and hit "share internet connection." Then connect a short ethernet from the laptop to the xbox. Viola, it's wireless for free.

#17, #2, PS3 fanboys.... fanatical like the Apple crowd. Look, if you want a PS3 and pay more for less, knock yourself out. Go preach your PS3 stupidity somewhere else.

The nerve calling someone who likes an xbox 360 a fanboy Nothing wrong liking a product and speaking out about it. It gets stupid when you have to create fake stats and use basically illogical statements to push the PS3.

If I buy this, can I buy an extended warranty from Microsoft so if it breaks beyond the 60day warranty microsoft will fix it?
