I have had my XBOX 360 for less than a year and have had no issues with it. I don't play it constantly though. Perhaps my usage pattern or waiting on my purchase has saved me? Perhaps there is a device failure in my future?
This is a product that you don't really want to risk....
Luckily, I've had my same console for 1 1/2 years with no problems..
Just holdout for the pricedrop. it's rumored to hit august 12th.

replace bacon with 360. stupid filters.
I wonder wuts the chance of this refurb being banned from xbox live before.
Yeah, #20, if I was going to buy one of these, I'd tell myself, "This Xbox has already been broken, fixed, and tested, so it shouldn't have any issues".
I guess it just depends on whether you feel comfortable gambling with $288.
#20, my buddy had his fixed and then it broken again two months later, either that is really bad luck for these things have a huge problem.
Almost every person I know who has had or owns and Xbox 360 experienced a break down and was forced to send it back.
Not a good sigh for MS.
i bought my 360 almost exactly a year after it came out, i've never had an issue, nor do i know anyone who has. that said with the price drop coming and the non-disputable failure rates publicized buying a refurb at this point is silly.
This box should be covered by the warrantee. MS doesn't really care where your system came from, when it breaks(and it will) they'll just ask you for the serial number on the box and you'll start the return cycle.
I'm waiting for my third box now. I use it for somewhat light gaming, as I don't have much time on my hands nowadays. Second box lasted about a month and a half of "use" since I was out of the country for a month of that.
The three years covers ONLY 3 red lights error code. If your box is acting up, it'll happen sooner or later. For everything else you can extend the normal warrantee for $30 a year up to two years when you call 18004myxbox.
In short, if you want one(lots of great games coming out for it), buying a refurb is really no problem.
I wouldn't trust these refurbished xbox 360s.
Refurbs often have the serial # blacked out/removed/or changed so they know NOT to honor the warranty. At least that was the way it was with my refurbed logitech mouse...no serial #, no replacement!
