How does this stack up against the ATI 4850?

This 1GB is worse than the 384MB that was 30 bucks with the game. Not a deal.

4850 is way better, and those cards will have a price drop this month.

Hit the history button to see what been said about this "not a deal." It's one of the most ridiculed cards....

This is a terrible video card. Don't buy it.

Newegg has a nVidia GeForce 9600GSO with a 192-bit memory interface(ONLY buy the 9600GSO's with a 192-bit memory bus, the ones with 256 and 128 bit memory interfaces are much slower) on sale for $35.

Also, ZipZoomFly had the much faster Radeon 4850 on sale for $55 recently.

Hmm. This deal for the "real" 9600GSO still appears to be valid:

Hey #4 why are you over doing the history thing? Did you just figure it out or something?

#7 -- Why yes... yes I did, thank you for asking. Normally if one checks that part of Ben's it doesn't show much; however as this cards had a very sorted history and since it been listed 5 time in just less 2 months I figure there's no use in repeating things. I figured you of all the posters here would appreciate the simple gesture.
Hope you had a wonderful 4th!

#5 & 6 are right, why get this one when you can get the "good" 9600GSO for $35 after rebate with the same game?

I recommend against buying from XFX. Over the last four years, I've purchased four video cards from them. One of the older cards, a 6800GS, has been having an issue where, if the computer is turned on with the VGA cable connected, there is a ~90% chance that there will be screen corruption. If the system is booted with the VGA cable disconnected, there will be no corruption and everything runs properly.

I called XFX to try to get the card serviced as it, like most of their video cards, supposedly has a double lifetime warranty. Double lifetime means that the card has a lifetime warranty for the original purchaser and for the first person that the original purchaser sells the card to.

XFX asked me for proof of purchase, which I didn't have since the card was purchased several years ago. I asked if that was needed since the card had a lifetime warranty. I was told that it did. I forged a receipt and they called me out on it, stating that since I had not registered the card within 30 days of purchasing it, it only had a one year warranty on it, and that it had expired.

I told XFX that I was a loyal customer and asked them if they would be willing to make an exception for me. I also asked them if they'd be willing to let me register my 8800GTS and GTX 260+ so I could have the warranty on them. I also pointed out that reputable manufacturers of other computer hardware with lifetime warranties, such as memory, would replace defective hardware without requiring a proof of purchase. They adamantly declined my requests.

I waited a few days, after posting about these issues on several forums, and contacted them again. I informed them that I was spreading the word about their decision to not honor the warranty and asked them if they wished to reconsider as my negative feedback is probably costing them sales. The tech said that XFX was going to stick by its warranty policy. I asked for a supervisor to confirm that and now, after 9 days, still haven't gotten a response.

    CLIFFS NOTES:
--XFX video cards supposedly have double lifetime warranty.
--XFX denies warranty if cards are not registered within 30 days.
--If you purchase an XFX product and need warranty support, expect them to try to weasel out of honoring the warranty.

Yes, I plan to spam this in every XFX "deal" posted on BB. I am thoroughly disgusted with XFX and am strongly considering selling all of my XFX hardware at a loss so I can replace it with equipment from a more reputable company.

#8, the word you wanted is "sordid", not "sorted".
