Can you imagine how stupid you would feel if you purchased something that didn't have Advanced YST II Technology?
I imagine this product will be obsolete very shortly, when Advanced YST III Technology appears.
NS,
As a certified YST tech., I can assure you that Advanced YST III is years from fruition. We are currently in contract negotiations, and are spending all of our time arguing over who actually invented the current "down-firing active design." Phillip swears he pioneered it, but we all know he's a drunk who spends 75% of his time in the bathroom (besides, he went to PURDUE of all heinous places to get your PhD!!).
I will keep you informed as to our progress...right now, our rallying cry is "YST III in 2023!!!" (we may have to work on that)
Wow. It has the size woofer as my main surround speakers. Can you really call it a subwoofer if the speaker is smaller than 10"?
It gets better. Dynamic Power rating of 100W? Is that peak, or RMS? Don't answer that. No SPL rating, either.
Look at the power label on the back. Its rated for 40W power consumption. I guess Yamaha has found a way to get more power out than put in.
Down-Firing? You better live in a house with solid ground...
What do the bulbs cost?
I have the bigger cube shaped Yamaha sub. It's a 10" I think and I got it from a deal here for $89 IIRC maybe a year ago. I don't know what generation of YST technology it has if it even has it at all. What I do know is it really packs a punch and sounds great. Based on that, I'm thinking this would make less sound for more money and that doesn't seem like such a good deal.
Of course if it makes the same with a smaller volume that would be cool but it seems unlikely.
