These are for people on welfare, or otherwise so fricken lazy they cannot operate a tape measure.

@hornet953: Wow, that was an amazingly stupid comment. I'm sure people on welfare would much rather spend their rent/food money on one of these than a $2 tape measure, yep.

@#2 and #4: I suppose you guys think power tools in general are for the lazy, eh? Yeah, me too. I'd much rather use my hand drill and a screwdriver instead of my Dewalt power drill. Hell, I should throw it away actually. Along with my power sander, I can just use one of those hand sanders. Paint roller or paint sprayer? Bah, for the lazy! I prefer doing entire rooms with just small 1" wide brushes. Yup yup.

Especially if I were a contractor doing one room after another all day every day... or even if I were just refinishing several rooms in my house... I prefer doing it the hard, laborious way. Builds character.

I'm thinking of getting this as a gift for a friend I know who's always measuring rooms. My concern is the +- 1 digit accuracy. What the hell does that mean?

@#5: People on welfare don't spend their money on rent and food. They spend it on cigarettes, drugs, and droopy jeans.

99.5% accuracy means that you'd measure 12 feet +/- 2/3 of an inch. yeah. that sounds accurate enough for some of the contractors I've seen.
