#1 - I think this device is designed to ues with hotel wired iternet. Amazon review seems well. However---- newegg have the same thing about the same price ( $31 with $14 off w/ promo code ZYXLAPR12, ends 4/8 ) But very poor reviews ( poor signal strength)....
I have a feeling the person on New Egg was trying to use this router beyond its range. The reviews at Amazon.com seem to imply it works well to provide a local wireless connection in the room area. I doubt it would work at any long distance. I have a similar product from D-Link that works the same. I use it my office with a dsl line to provide access for my Android phone and laptop. That one works well and I have used other ZyXell products including thier ZyWall 2 Plus for my customers. Should make an nice addition to my travel case.
Agree...the bad rating on Newegg was only from one reviewer...the ones on Amazon are pretty positive, but only three reviewers there (it is no longer available on Amazon, by the way). If anyone is interested, I looked it up on the ZyXEL web site and the power plug does take 110-240 volts for international travel...I could not find this information anywhere else.
Since it can use 5V input that does (most probably) limit it's power output to below that of standard non-travel routers, but for same room use it should suffice.
Really? Almost every smartphone has mobile HotSpot.
