I wouldn't own ZyXEL even if it was free. Pass.

Zyxel is a great brand. They have been around for decades and made very advanced modems and, later on, routers.

Having said this, $89 is no bargain for a router/wireless.

Better to daisy a switch and low cost router, best with dd-wrt or openwrt. There was a Gb switch two days ago for $5 after rebate, alas not noticed by Ben here.

It's not a bad price for the specs but if I'm going to invest this much money into a router I'm going to buy a good name brand router that I know won't fail me

I have 30 year old Zyxel modems that still works. But not a good price for this Zyxel. If we're going to debate, you need an offer of proof. Nobody here really cares what you or I buy 1 copy of as individuals (except Ben, who harvests the $$ for clicks).

For my part, I was only trying to furnish useful info based on fact. No time or incentive to do any more. I believe #1 is merely ranting without any basis. It is true that Zyxel doesn't advertise in the manner of Linksys (Cisco), Belkin etc. Belkin routers generally have been tagged as having problems (tho' depends on the model of course). Cheers.

Ok danpi, I'll take you up on your dare... Offer me proof that you actually have a 30 year old modem. 3 years maybe. 30 years, no way. At least not a modem from Zyxel. (The first PC modem was invented in 1977 by the way.) So, you were saying something about 'facts'?

    1) ZyXEL has only been around for 20 years, so a 30-year-old ZyXEL modem cannot exist.
    2) People who thinks that Belkin, D-Link, or even Linksys are "name-brand" routers over ZyXEL are not very well informed, and only shows how Americans are easily bought by marketing dollars.

Maybe it's a Zyxel acoustic coupler. Does it get 1200 baud?
