| I am using a Core i5 750 running a VIC 20 emulator. Why you ask? Just because I can. |

| What a coincidence. I'm using a Commodore VIC 20 and running an i5 750 emulator. My 64k of memory is a little slow in the 8 gig emulator mode though. I may need to run a crossfire emulator to speed things up if I ever want to get through Zork. |

| Just curious what people use. I know you guys heard this a million times but I couldn't decide between Intel i7 and AMD Phenom II. What made you choose Intel over AMD? |

The choice isn't very relevant, budget your system's total cost then subtract the cost of all but CPU & motherboard (since intel boards tend to cost a little more), then whatever money is left for the CPU, buy the one with highest performance in your tasks as shown by online benchmarks of those tasks. Sometimes it's an Intel CPU, sometimes not.
However, until you get into the ~$230+ price range for CPU + motherboard, AMD combos tend to be the better performance per dollar, especially if you pick a CPU which can have *hidden* cores unlocked... when paired with motherboards using modern AMD chipsets. |
