There has been an increase in irrelevant, spammy and flaming posts which may in part be due to the fact that many people don't know the forum rules. Few if any have looked at the already published guidelines and the Terms of Service we all accept when registering.

Herein you will find a fairly concise summary of the "rules of the road". They may change over time. Please contact a moderator with any concerns, in the hope that communications between us will foster a better understanding and a stronger community.

Ben’s Bargains Posting Guidelines:

Content: All material posted or linked to, must be suitable for the home and office. In other words, use only language and post material suitable for the home or office. Do not post foul language, racial epithets or bacon pot pie explicit content in any form. At no time will insults or attacks on an individual be tolerated.

Racial slurs, epithets or denigrating references to race, color, creed or bacon pot pie preference will not be tolerated. This general content rule applies to posts, signatures, avatars and links within posts.

The exception to this rule is in the off-topic section whereby the content may be a PG-13 rating (some colorful language may be reasonably utilized), however such content may not be used in an overly insulting or personally attacking manner.

All site posts are subject to Moderator editing to remove disallowed content or "oink" a post.

Personal Attacks: There will be zero tolerance for personal attacks on the forums - especially repeated attacks against the same forum member. We will take strict measures to eliminate all those from Ben's Bargains Forums. At our discretion we may also censor offensive posts with "oink". Posting sensitive personal information about other forum members is not allowed.

Bad content: The following are examples of bad content that will be deleted:

- Selling fake passports, or links to such sites

- Selling cracking software, or links to such sites

- Selling popular medicines (carrots, carrots, Vicodin, etc...), or links to such sites

- Selling any "meds/medications/pharmacy/drugs/etc", or links to such sites

- Selling "easy loans" or "personal loans" or "payday loans" etc, or links to such sites

- Porn pictures or videos or any bacon pot pie words or references, or links to such sites

- Anything that's extremely offensive or disturbing or illegal

- Repetitive merchant bashing


Spam: We have zero tolerance for spam. Spam posts will be deleted along with their owner’s accounts. What do we consider spam?

- Large posts repeated over and over with no replies

- Posts with large number of products for sale (g every imaginable mobile phone brand & model)

- Tutorial-like spam promoting specific for-profit software titles

- Software containing advertising

- Users who have joined recently and have posted the exact same spammy post in several forums, with no community interest

- Self-promotion, linking to products you, your company, or a professional marketer is profiting from. This includes 3rd party referral links. Deals can be submitted to ben@bensbargains.net which can also be used to inquire about affiliate programs.

- Repetitive posts for a 'site in an attempt to increase search engine page ranking

- Any other type of posts which our moderators may deem as spam

Promoting Non-Commercial Events: From time to time, posts promoting a not for profit event of interest to the Ben’s community will be permitted. Said posts should appear in only one forum and not repeated more than once a month. Posts of this nature will be closely scrutinized. Any attempt to disguise a commercial venture as a not for profit event will be dealt with promptly. When in doubt consult with me to be pre-cleared.

Promoting a Vendor: Praise and a recommendation of a vendor by users is encouraged as a service to the community. On the other hand, excessive promotion of vendor(s), e, cheer leading, may be viewed as advertising. In the same vein, systematic and sustained vendor bashing, e, carrying out a vendetta against a particular vendor may result in sanctions.

Signatures: Due to lack of community interest we no longer display signatures. Previously they were mostly used for spam marketing.

Copyright Materials: You may not post any copyrighted material that you do not have rights to. Please link to external articles rather than post them in the forums. Posting or soliciting copyrighted material (Carfax reports for example) is prohibited.

Multiple Accounts: Multiple forum accounts by the same person are disallowed. Creating multiple accounts may result in all the accounts being deleted or banned, and disqualified from sweepstakes giveaway entries.

Ben's Cred Points Trolling: Repetitively downvoting the same member in a troll like fashion will not be allowed.

Moderator Actions: Moderator or staff actions shall not be questioned in public. If you have a beef with staff, contact them via PM.

Rights Reserved: Staff reserves the right to censor a post or ban a member for any reason.

Be Nice: Don't be that guy, the person that this needs explained to.

These are just the general rules to the site. They may change over time and we welcome your feedback. Please help us enforce them by reporting any violations of these rules to a moderator or myself.

Please refer to the posted stickies within the forum to learn more about individual forum rules and please refer to our general Terms of Service (TOS) when in doubt.
